A Leader in Community Based Water Efficiency and Education
Resource Action Programs (RAP) designs and implements community programs to reduce residential water and energy use, combining unique participant-driven educational materials, kits of high efficiency products, and comprehensive implementation services that include data tracking for municipalities, utilities, government agencies, and community action agencies. The unique approach allows program participants to drive their education process and select the actions they want to complete. Participants are equipped with the tools and products to enact the lessons learned, making our approach to education truly ‘hands-on’ for a larger, longer lasting impact. Teaming up with utilities, government agencies, and community action agencies provides the tangible results for sponsors and the tools that students and families need to make real changes in their household water and energy use.
At RAP the entire team is passionate about efficiency and education, and believes that effective education is contagious. For more than fifteen years RAP has made a difference in communities across the United States. Last year alone RAP implemented over 200 custom residential programs reaching more than 150,000 households. Since its inception, over 1.2 million households have participated in RAP programs.
RAP's dedicated staff manages every part of program implementation which includes graphic and web design, print production, kit production, warehousing and distribution, marketing and outreach, program tracking, data tabulation and reporting. When RAP teams up with a sponsor, they work to transform individual household habits and to make sure each program fulfills the needs of that community.
It's Good To Be Sustainable
Sustainability is part of all RAP operations and program activities. RAP has made a commitment to using environmentally friendly materials by utilizing recycled and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper for all our products. In addition, RAP consistently works to reduce the amount of packaging materials within their kits.
In today’s world, populations continue to grow and our natural resources continue to become scarce, so it is important for consumers to be educated about how they can help themselves and their neighbors save water and energy. Community programs like RAP are increasing water and energy conservation efforts on a local and regional basis. RAP's programs strive to influence and empower participants to be vocal advocates for water and energy efficiency. RAP is proud to be working with sponsors to spread the word about water and energy efficiency through media events, contests, promotions, and community events.
Effective Education
Each resource action program emphasizes conservation education, designed to introduce families to the concept of natural resources, while teaching them the importance of conservation in daily life. The program's focus is on energy and water awareness, with the goal of education and an increased feeling of environmental responsibility.
The personalized education approach makes RAP unique. By using hands-on learning, accommodation to different learning styles, adaptive lesson plans, and flexible times schedules, there is something to be gained by everyone involved. RAP's main priorities are teaching the value of clean water and energy, where our resources come from, the impact of everyday actions and the power of individual and collective action.
It's all About The Results
Not only does RAP provide education, products and services, but incorporated into each program is a set of reporting features that allow the sponsor to track program performance in real time. During the program, all activities and resource savings generated are recorded. After program completion results are tabulated and analyzed, they are then returned to the sponsor in the form of a comprehensive Program Summary Report. This in depth report allows the sponsor to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Included are comments straight from the participant on their opinion and personal success with the products. RAP believes this helps the sponsors and the company itself to re-design and improve programs year after year.
As conservation efforts and programs become more sophisticated, data management needs are increasing. RAP helps gather and utilize customer information more effectively and economically. As consumer interest in efficiency grows, sponsors are discovering that participants who are active in one program are more inclined to enroll in additional opportunities. Effective cross-promotion and data management has shown to help increase publicity for other programs.
Why We Do What We Do
With climate change an urgent concern, conserving energy, water and natural gas is one way to limit - and possibly begin to reverse - human impacts on the environment. Depending on the type of program, each participant has the potential to save over 9,000 gallons of water, 330 kWh of electricity, and 40 therms of gas annually by retrofitting their homes with devices provided as part our programs. Over the life expectancy of those devices, participants could save over 90,000 gallons of water, 3,100 kWh of electricity and 400 therms of gas. Every individual action helps, and the collective power can be tremendous.
