The City of Mesquite purchases surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD). The NTMWD serves more than 1.6 million people across 90 communities in 10 counties. NTMWD gets raw water from Lavon Lake and treats it at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant.
