Water Conservation Strategies: Experimenting Together to Find Out What Works

There is a quiet revolution occurring in the way we understand how best to conserve water and energy. Economists and other social scientists are making greater use of “field experiments” to test what actually works in getting businesses and consumers to conserve. This webinar offers an overview of behavioral economics; provides a primer on how water management professionals can benefit from doing randomized controlled trials, and summarizes some actual experiments. Included is a conversation about ways academics might partner with utilities to test, design and deliver innovative and effective water programs for the public.
