Fernando Fernandez is the Senior Director of Codes and Standards at Toto USA, Inc. During his 27 year career in the industry, his work has greatly focused on aspects of product design, testing, and compliance. His role entails directing Toto’s regulatory affairs and conformity compliance program in the Americas including managing activities related to standards development and water efficiency initiatives. He has helped champion the cause in Toto’s role as a major industry leader in high-performance, water-efficient plumbing products.

During his tenure at Toto, Fernando has also served on the Board of Directors for the Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) and was Board President in 2015. He was re-elected to the Board and is currently serving his second term with PMI as the Technical Liaison to the Board. One of his most significant accomplishments was being part of a multi-industry, collaborative effort to support the California Energy Commission on updated changes to the Appliance Efficiency Regulations during a time of one of California’s worst multi-year droughts.

Fernando has also been an avid supporter of water efficiency advocacy. He has lobbied to advance sustainability measures at both State and Federal levels meeting with representatives to further the cause. He has been involved in promoting the U.S. EPA WaterSense® program since its development and inception in 2006 and continues to support water efficient measures as a corporate representative and member of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH).
