Exemplary Programs Series - Innovating the Utility Business Model: Getting Creative with Revenue

Utilities are all feeling the pinch of aging infrastructure, declining consumption and rising rates. Without an infusion of capital from the government or elsewhere in sight, water providers are under increasing pressure to get creative with revenue sources. Learn about the diverse ways water providers are exploring non-traditional utility business ventures that can be used to provide additional revenue. Hear about DC Water's exciting new Blue Drop initiative, a nonprofit aimed at marketing products and services to provide ratepayer relief and elevate the field of water, and Connecticut Water’s Linebacker Protection Program, which offers customers protection from unexpected repair costs for water lines, wastewater pipes and in-home plumbing, while producing revenue stability.
