This Intern will contribute to important research within the Outdoor Water Savings Research Initiative in collaboration with AWE’s Program Team. The Intern will conduct primary and secondary research, facilitate informational interviews, collect and organize data, and write reports for an AWE project exploring the best practices across residential landscape transformation and irrigation efficiency programs.

2024 promises to be an exciting and productive year for AWE and our members. While many faced challenges in 2023 including drought, contentious water negotiations, and new regulatory environments, there were also innovations and strides forward in the ways we can work together to make every drop of water count. AWE continued to have a critical role in helping to clarify needs, bring problem-solvers together and to evaluate and identify best practices.

Recently, we learned our colleague and dear friend Thomas Pape passed away after a long illness. It is a tragic loss to the national water conservation community. A graduate of Buckminster Fuller's Planning and Design program at Southern Illinois University, Tom spent his entire career promoting and supporting energy and water efficiency, where he was a well-known and passionate advocate at the federal, state, and local levels. As a water and energy efficiency technical expert, he made many important contributions to efficient resource use.
